In a poll, 96 percent of Indians said chronic corruption was holding back their country. Corruption has had a negtaive effect on government efficience and economic  performance. The judiciary is independent, but Indian courts are understaffed and Lack the technology necessary to clear an enormous backlog, estimated by the U.N. to total 30 million-40 million pending cases.

India's economic freedom score is 56.6, making its econmy the 128th freest in the 2015 Index. Its score is down by 1.1 points from last year, with modest improvement  in  business freedem, property rights, and freedem form corruption offset by declines in Labor freedem and trade freedem. India is ranked 26th out of countries in the asia - Pacific region, and its overall score continues to be below the regional and world averages.

An Introduction to Indian History

The Indus valley cinilization saw its genesis in the holy land now known as India around 2500 BC. The people inhabiting the Indus River valley were thought to be Dravidians, whose descendants later migrated to the souyh of india. The deterioration of the civilization that developed a culture based on commerce and sustained by agricultural trade san be attributed to ecological changes. The srcond millennium BC was witness to the migration of the bucolic Aryan tribes form the North West forntier into the sub cotinent. These tribes gradually merged with their antecedent cultures to give birth to a new milieu.
